Students at The Rochester Grammar School have secured the best ever GCSE results in the school’s history with an impressive 65% of all grades being at A* or A. The summer results have been outstanding maintaining RGS’s status as one of the UK’s top performing state schools.
80% of the year 11 cohort achieved 5 or more A* or A grades and the average grade per entry was an A. Nearly all students also took AS level courses alongside their GCSEs and, again, achievement in these subjects was outstanding with 75% of the AS grades being equivalent to an A* or A at GCSE. Overall, 99% of students attained 5 A*-C including English and Maths and 94% secured the EBAC gold standard.
Gwynn Bassan, Principal, commented: ‘I am immensely proud of our students for their outstanding achievements this summer. I know how incredibly hard they have worked to attain these grades and it clearly shows their drive and determination to succeed. These results are truly transformational and will provide our students with an excellent foundation for a bright future. We look forward to welcoming them back to our sixth form in September. I would also like to thank my dedicated staff who have worked so hard to help our students to realise their potential.’
