Students at The Rochester Grammar School (RGS) have followed the lead of Team GB’s Olympians, and secured the school’s best ever GCSE results.
With an impressive 70% of grades at A* or A, 76% of students achieving 5+ A* or A grades, and 100% of the cohort achieving 5 A*-C grades including English and Maths, the summer results have been outstanding – maintaining RGS’s status as one of the UK’s top performing state schools.
The school has seen a 10% improvement in the top A*/A GCSE grades over the past three years with outcomes this year 4% higher than in 2015. This is also the very first time that every single GCSE entry has been at grade C or above.
Imesha Jayasuriya, Erika Notarianni, Yemaya Phillips-Smith, Alexandra Rudland, Lola Wheeler and Anna Worthy all achieved more than 10 A* grades, and Freya Brown, Gayathiry Kanthavel, Danielle Kennedy, Philippa Lang, Emma Murphy, Charlotte Newton and Urvi Singh each secured more than 8 A* grades.
Gwynn Bassan, Principal, commented:
‘This is a day where my staff and I are beaming with pride. Every single student is to be congratulated for their truly outstanding achievements at GCSE.
I am immensely proud of our very talented students and it is such a privilege to work with such conscientious, diligent and aspirational individuals.
I would also like to thank my dedicated staff who have worked incredibly hard to help our students to realise their potential.
These life changing results will open up an array of future opportunities for our students and we look forward to supporting them on this exciting transformational journey as they enter the sixth form.’
