Students at Rochester Grammar School (RGS) are jumping for joy today – after the school achieved outstanding A Level results once again.
Nearly 80% of all grades were between A* and B, while a record eight students will be taking up places at the prestigious Oxford and Cambridge universities. RGS is a member of the Thinking Schools Academy Trust (TSAT), a family of thirteen schools in Medway and Portsmouth that prides itself on academic excellence and providing the best possible education for all students.
The superb results follow the excellent performance of students in the IB earlier this summer, which saw the school rank in the top 7% globally. When IB and A Level results are combined, 81% of RGS’s grades this year have been A*-B.
Students particularly excelled in those subjects that have been reformed as part of the Government’s shake-up of A Levels.
Some of the best-performing students included:
Adding to the already impressive number of students going on to study at Oxbridge is Lauryn Anderson, who will study English Literature at Cambridge having scored 45 in the IB. This put her in the top 0.3% of IB graduates worldwide.
Clare Brinklow, Head of School at Rochester Grammar School, said:
“We are so proud of all of our A Level students for their impressive achievements today. To have so many students achieving top grades, and going on to study at world-leading institutions across the country, is testament to the hard work and amazing talent that they have shown over the last two years.
“I would also like to pay tribute to our dedicated and inspiring teachers, and always supportive parents, who support our students to realise their potential.
“We look forward to going from strength to strength over the coming years, and building on the great success that we have had in A-levels and the IB this summer.”
