On Sunday 28th April, 18 students and 6 members of staff from Rochester Grammar School volunteered to be part of the baggage reclaim on The Mall for the Virgin Money London Marathon. After a chilly start, and a lot of waiting around, the girls organised nearly 2,000 bags to be ready for collection. Completing this in just over an hour made it their quickest time yet! RGS students attending the Japanese club have been learning about the Japanese Hinamatsuri Festival and have created their Hina-dolls in origami. The Rochester Grammar School performed its 9th annual charity dance show on 6th-9th February 2019. Over 80 students had worked since September in numerous roles including choreography, performance, set production and advertising to produce a spectacular show. This year’s theme was focussed entirely iconic movies. The choice of music was varied and exciting and the students enjoyed choreographing to songs old and new; it gave the students an opportunity to grow and develop as cast members and performers. This year’s whole school production is now on! Sister Act runs from 7th-9th March, with tickets still available via Mrs Peploe at the finance hatch, online via our parentmail system, and on the door for both the Thursday and Saturday performances. Doors open at 6:30 for both Thursday and Friday night’s performances, with the show starting promptly at 7pm. Saturday’s performance starts at 4pm, with doors opening at 3:30. As part of our Global Exchange Programme, a group of students from RGS, who are taking German as a language GCSE, visited our partner school Leibniz in Berlin last January. They had the chance to experience a school day at in Germany, and attended several lessons. The RGS Robotics Club recently competed in the Tomorrow’s Engineers Tournament held at Mid-Kent College. They competed against other local schools in a series of challenges. The Robotics Club has been working to prepare for this event for many months by meeting together during lunchtimes and afterschool.
