Rochester Grammar School has continued their sporting success this term, attending three Secondary School Games events, all held at Medway Park, and against other secondary schools from across Medway. Participating in the Medway Secondary School Games involves participating in 9 competitions in a variety of sports throughout an academic year. Points are awarded on how you place at each event, to then determine an overall Medway Secondary School Games champion.

As it stands, after 4 events, Rochester Grammar School are currently in 1st place, as overall Medway Secondary School Games Champions.

Medway Secondary School Games Badminton

On Thursday 17th November the PE Department had the pleasure of taking 10 students to the Medway Secondary School Games Badminton Competition today at Medway Park. The students played with such grace and mature attitudes; they were a real credit to the school.

Across KS3 and KS4, both teams won all their games within the first round. In KS3 13 schools participated and in KS4 10 schools participated from across Medway.

They qualified top of the group into the second round, and competed as follows in round 2:

Year 9:

  • RGS vs Fort Pitt A : 3 - 2
  • RGS vs Rainham Mark : 4 - 1
  • RGS vs Chatham Grammar for Girls : 4 - 1

Year 10:

  • RGS vs HoH : 4 - 1
  • RGS vs Rainham Mark : 1 - 4

This therefore placed the teams in the following final positions:

RGS Year 9: 2nd

RGS Year 10: 2nd

Overall placing RGS in Medway: 2nd place Runners Up in Medway!

Medway Secondary School Games Handball

On Thursday 24th November, RGS had a very physically demanding Medway Secondary School Games Handball competition, in which we took 20 students from years 7 - 10 to compete. Students were truly tested on their ability to be strong and withstand physical opposition. They battled hard and showed real RGS tenacity.

The U13's competed again 10 teams in Medway and U15 11 teams from across Medway.

Both teams won all their games in the pool stage of the competition and therefore got through to the finals, where they continued to battle, with both teams facing Rainham Mark Grammar in the finals. The final results were as follows:

U13 : RGS vs Rainham Mark : 2 v 1

U15 : RGS vs Rainham Mark : 1 v 2

A huge congratulations to the U13 team, who are now Medway Handball Champions and to the U15 team, who placed 2nd in Medway. Overall, placing RGS as joint Medway Handball Champions with Rainham Mark.

Medway Secondary School Games Futsal

On Thursday 08th December the PE Department had the pleasure of taking 14 students to the Medway Secondary School Games Futsal Competition at Medway Park. The students played with such passion.

The RGS U13 Futsal team, placed 2nd placed in the Medway Secondary School Games Futsal Competition! With the U15, participating well and finishing in 7th place.

U13 Group Stage, the team won all their games:

  • RGS v Strood : 2 - 0
  • RGS v HoH : 2 - 1
  • RGS v Rainham Girls : 1 - 0

Finals : RGS v Rainham Mark : 0 - 2. Placing the U13 Team in 2nd place, therefore Medway Runners Up.

U15 Group Stage:

  • RGS v WGS : 1 - 2
  • RGS v Rainham Mark : 1 - 2
  • RGS v Strood : 2 - 0
  • RGS v CGSG : 0 - 1

Final Stage : RGS v Brompton : 1 - 0. Placing the U15 Team in 7th place.

Overall placing RGS in 5th place overall in Medway
